Praeclarius

Praeclarius was an Archmaester of the Museum in Jurus during the early Four Brothers Era, as well as teacher, philosopher, mathematician, and an influential figure in academia. He was a student of Securvires, and oversaw the Museum in Jurus, an early institution of higher learning in Nora. Along with Securvires, Praeclarius helped to lay the foundations of philosophy and science.

Praeclarius's taught a range of subjects, including philosophy, logic, ethics, rhetoric, religion and mathematics. Praeclarius's writings have been published in several fashions; this has led to several conventions regarding the naming and referencing of Praeclarius's texts.

Notably, he is the subject of the bard's tale Praeclarius and the Cat, in which the archmaester tests his wits against his feline opponent, and turning into an oak at the end. This story is largely believed to be fiction.
