Phoelarchs are extraplanar humanoids that appeared in Ädnas in 1330 NS.

Simmings Farley attempted to open a massive portal to Agnor. This attempt failed causing Agnor and Ädnas to fold momentarily and bring the phoelarch into this realm. They brought with them their strange ways and strange religion. They were dangerous because of the heat that poured from their bodies. In time, they learned the common language and controlled their heat, but most peoples continue to distrust them.

It was Khoun Siffith that began the modern Cult of the Phoenix after he discovered the Ish Klav in 1348 NS.

Phoelarches are thought to be the descendants of the Eternal Phoenix. Their proud bearing, brilliant plumage, and the intense heat they can generate all prove these rumors are closer to the truth than many realize.

Phoelarches do not confine themselves to any one terrain or climate. They prefer warmer areas, but they can tolerate almost any habitable clime. They are almost universally possessed of a terrible wanderlust, though. Most phoelarchs spend their lives wandering the land, seeking out new places and new people. As a result, phoelarchs don’t typically have their own society, although rumors of phoelarch cities on the Elemental Plane of Fire circulate among the phoenixkin.

Another trait phoelarchs have in common is how they respond to injustice. Phoelarchs treasure their freedom, and the freedom of others, almost more than anything else. As a result, wherever a people’s freedom is threatened, a phoelarch may be drawn to the scene to help in the fight for justice or freedom.

Phoelarches treasure their freedom and the freedom of others, almost more than anything else. For this reason, they frequently unite with bands of adventurers strongly opposed to tyranny.

Phoelarch warriors are seldom found in armies, preferring the freedom of mercenary work. As creatures that value liberty, all but the most unscrupulous phoelarch warriors refuse to work for those that keep slaves.

Phoelarch names is a child's name, followed by the Phoelarch word for "egg-child" followed by a combined name of both parents, and then the combined names of both their parents. The first name is simple and becomes more complicated as it goes back generations. Because of that they tend to just use their first names when dealing with outsiders.
