"We serve the gods by serving Man. We serve Man by serving his kings." - Palatian motto

The Brothers in the Holy Order of Selfless Palace Guardians, also called the Palatian Guard, served as royal bodyguards to the kings of the Four Brothers Era. Supposedly the finest knights in the Four Brothers, they are sworn to protect their king and his family with their own lives, to obey his commands, and to keep his secrets. They are sworn for life and are forbidden from owning land, taking a wife, or fathering children.

Training

A palatian begins his training when a foal is born. He rears the foal and learns as it grows. When he shows mastery over his mount, he is knighted and appointed a ward to swear his protection.

Equipment

The palatians usually wear white armor and carry a longsword on their hip. Often the king they serve modifies their look to better suit his individual needs. This often simply equates to the palatians wearing an appropriately colored cape to show their allegiance to their ward.
