Dreadborn Knights

The Dreadborn Knights are the personal bodyguards of the High Crown. They have a high reputation for discipline, moral composure, combat expertise and, above all, loyalty. The knights wear black uniforms under their silver armor as well as black tabards with the Seal of the High Crown to remind themselves and their potential foes that they wear their burial clothes and are ready to die in service.

The Dreadborns were first commissioned in 1265, but were not put to use until 1277 when young High King Donovan took the throne. There have always been nine Dreadborn Knights, numbered in order of rank with the first rank belonging to the Dreadborn Captain.
