High City Marshal Charlize Hitchen is a marshal of the Alexandrian Guard. She is often referred to as the Thief-Taker due to her ruthless arresting methods and the tendency for petty criminals to simply disappear when captured by her.

Under City Marshal

She was from a poor family and was apprenticed to the cabinet maker John Wells, in 1365. Hitchen set up trade as a joiner for a time, and lived on the north side of the Longdocks in the City of Alexandria. In 1373, Hitchen's father died, and she inherited property, which she sold. She used that money to purchase the position of Under City Marshal for 700 gil in 1374. Her job was to police the city for prostitutes, vagrants, and unlicensed tradesmen. For this, she received all paid fines as well as a 100 gil salary from the Lord Mayor of Alexandria.

Return of the Council

see The Archmages Saga: Return of the Council

Charlize, with several other Marshals and a group of Bluecloaks investigated Shackletown in the late autumn of 1377 and became enchanted by a powerful spellcaster. She was charmed to find Starcoat, Kylie the Just's companion dragonling, and return her to the spellcaster. When the charmed guards came across a party including tempest, Andreu es'Ornelos and Felix Richter, she was cleared of her enchantment and helped to subdue her fellow guardswomen. She was wounded in the conflict and was taken to a nearby chapel by Lucas Florentine and healed.

Powers and Abilities

High City Marshal Hitchen is an extremely competent swordswoman. She has spent years building contacts in the city. With Marshal Hitchen, its never a matter of what she knows, but who she knows.

She often visits with Venture-Captain Lancer Rathshead, leading to some illicit rumors.
