Dark Empire

The Order of the Silent Song monastery is destroyed by the Black Lotus, allied with the Dark Empire. Only nine masters survive and spread their own fighting styles to different monasteries.

The Order rebuilds within the city of Alexandria.

Shourido, called by some "the dark path to victory", [1] and also known as the Dark Virtues was a code of conduct similar to Bushido, but twisted. While the tenets of Bushido were based upon honor and duty to one's lord and the Empire, the Dark Virtues, while seeming honorable placed oneself above others. Shourido was introduced to Rokugan by ambassador Garen Hawthorne to Doji Saori in 1167. This was in effort to twist Rokugani society and thus cause division among the populace.

The Obsidian Champion was considered as the champion of Shourido.

The Vision, also the Vision of Neraka, is a statement of the ultimate goal of the knighthood: total domination of Ansalon in Takhisis' name for One World Order. Originally Takhisis would grant her Knights their own personal Vision through the Knights of the Skull. This would show each Knight how they fit into Takhisis' plan, and their place in the Dark Knighthood.

The Code is a complex set of laws that primarily relate to military strategies and also how the Knights of Neraka should conduct themselves, even in their personal lives. It is the dark version of the Solamnic Code. Each knight is expected to strictly adhere to the Code, but some exceptions are possible, which is determined by a Adjudicator of the Code. The Code also lets knights know that if you violate it, there is no debate and they will be dealt with summarily.

Knights are allowed to lie, steal, or murder, but only if it furthers the Vision and aren't done for self-gain. They are not allowed to rape, pillage, or plunder since this would not help form an ordered world.

The Blood Oath is simply, "Submit or Die". It is the dark version of the Solamnic Oath. This is followed by every knight, who must commit themselves completely, body and soul, to the knighthood. Dark Knights can think for themselves, but the Knighthood always comes before any self-interest. The Blood Oath frowns upon any Dark Knight using torture or execution.
